Curious Opulence, 2008.
Hand blown glass, mirrored, dichroic and silvered glass.
Curious Opulence engages critical inquiry surrounding the solidification of light and its transient nature through perceptual shifts.
When viewed by the naked eye, dichroic glass appears as multilayered solidified light. Its ability to reflect and refract light, alters the volume and mass of its apparent three dimensional form; at times dissolving entirely and becoming formless. Consequently the material alters perception, appearing to respond to the viewer as they negotiate it aesthetically.
